Getting started
What happens when you order, and what to do first.
Ordering a server takes about a minute. Everything after that is automatic.
Placing an order
- Pick a game on the plans page. Every plan shows how many are
available right now — that number is real, not decoration. When it says zero, the node genuinely has no room and we will not take your money.
- Choose a name. This becomes your address, so
dragonholdgives you
dragonhold.knightkeep.net.
- For Minecraft, pick your version if you want something other than the latest.
- Pay through PayPal. Your server is created the moment PayPal confirms.
The first few minutes
Your server is built immediately, but the first start is slower than every start after it. The game has to generate a world before it will accept a single connection.
| Game | Typical first start |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | under a minute |
| Terraria | 1–2 minutes |
| Valheim | 2–3 minutes |
| 7 Days to Die | 3–5 minutes |
Watch the console on your server page. When it says the server is done, it is ready.
Finding your details
Everything you need is on your server's page in the portal:
- The address to give your friends
- Any passwords we generated for you, with a copy button
- A live console, so you can see exactly what the server is doing
Cancelling
Cancel any time from your server page. You keep the server until the end of the period you have paid for, and we do not ask why.
Still stuck? Get in touch with your server name and the last few lines of your console.
