Minecraft
Versions, performance, whitelisting and ops.
Choosing your software
The Vanilla Java plan runs one thing: the unmodified game with server-side performance mods. Chunks load much faster than the stock server and your client needs nothing extra.
The Modded plan lets you choose a mod loader — Fabric, NeoForge or
Forge — because a modpack requires a specific one. Check what your pack says before you order; they are not interchangeable.
Fabric on the Modded plan comes with the same performance mods as Vanilla already installed.
Bedrock is a separate plan — it is a different game with a different protocol, and Java software cannot run it.
Versions
Pick a version at checkout, or take the latest. Mods and modpacks are usually tied to a specific version, so if you are following a pack, match it exactly.
The EULA
Mojang requires accepting their EULA. You accept it at checkout and we write it to the server for you, so it never appears as a mysterious failure to start.
Making yourself an operator
In the console:
op YourName
Whitelisting
whitelist on
whitelist add YourFriend
Turn the whitelist off again with whitelist off.
If it feels slow
- View distance in Settings is the biggest lever. The server never sends
chunks beyond it, so setting your client higher than the server does nothing.
- More memory does not make it faster past a point. Chunk generation is
limited by CPU, not memory.
- Check the console for errors while it is happening — a misbehaving mod is a
more common cause than the hardware.
